Project Overdrive
Rocket Racing as it shipped, kept playable on our own servers after the official one sunset

Who can play#
Overdrive is invite only while it is in development, and right now there is nothing finished enough to hand out or show, so new access requests are closed. People who already asked keep their place in the queue and will hear from us the moment anything changes
When it opens, the way in is the same as it was: sign in, ask on the play page, and once approved generate your own key there. The key is shown once and you can replace it whenever you like
Access requests are closed during development. Watch the roadmap or the community for a sign when they reopen
What it is#
Project Overdrive keeps the original game playable. This is NOT a remake and not a tribute, the build itself, running against servers we operate instead of the ones that were left.
Rocket Racing was the racing mode inside Fortnite, made by Psyonix, which is the studio behind Rocket League. Cars that boost, drift, flip and drive on walls, on tracks built for exactly that. It reached its sunset on October 1, 2026, and from that day the official servers no longer host it. Overdrive exists so the game, people already know can still be played the way it was
Vaelora Velocity rebuilds Rocket Racing as a new game. This is the other half of the same instinct: before anything is rebuilt, the thing that already exists should not be allowed to disappear, right?
What it is not#
- Not a mod/active cheat for the live Fortnite client. Overdrive runs a preserved build of the game as it shipped, separately from anything Epic operates today
- Not a remake, a tribute or think of it as a recreation in terms of server side because the game already exist. The tracks, the cars, the physics and the menus are the original ones
- Not connected to your Epic account. Nothing is connected to Epic Online Services (EOS) and you never sign in to Epic anywhere in this project, which is also against their tos
- Not a way to get anything into the real game. Nothing here affects Fortnite, Rocket League or any Epic service
- Not a product, which means it's completely free. Vision Force is a fan team of volunteers. Overdrive is free, carries no purchases, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Epic Games or Psyonix
How it works#
We make two main things to make it work. Meridian is our launcher for this specific project: it downloads the game build onto your PC, brings everything the game needs up on your machine, and points the game at servers we operate. Those servers are the second piece: accounts, lobby, matchmaking, locker and the progression that the official servers used to provide will be remade to match the origin.
When you press play in launcher, Meridian starts the game, redirects its server traffic to us. since we are not an official publisher, you will get some pop ups you will have to accept to be able to play the game. Usually, on official distributors like Epic, those pop ups are already accepted automatically because they are trusted. We haven't bought any certificate or subscription to have that status. Everything the game asks for on the way to a race is answered by our side instead of EOS.
- Create a Vision Force account here. Meridian only signs you in, it never creates accounts
- Install Meridian. It is free, it asks for your key the first time you open it, and it fetches the game itself, so you never go looking for files. We do NOT distribute the game, we take it directly from Epic's CDN.
- Meridian brings the servers up on your side, starts the game and connects it to us
- Then Race
What Meridian changes on your PC#
Changes two temporary things which get both reversed when you close the client. It trusts a certificate for your user account only, and it redirects the game's server hostnames to itself so the traffic reaches us instead. During that, all Epic Games services will return an Error when you try to open them while playing the game and/or having Meridian open.
Otherwise nothing else on your device is affected. Your browser and everything else resolve normally throughout. Your game install is never modified either: anything the project adds to a session is delivered at runtime from our hosting and exists in Meridian's own cache. If you kill the launcher rather than closing it correctly, Windows restores the original settings at your next restart
Meridian signs you in, it never creates accounts. Accounts get created here on the website
Everyone starts from zero again#
Nothing carries over from the official game. Your rank, your cars, your cosmetics and your progress on Epic's servers stay where they are, because this project never touches them. Every player on Overdrive starts with a fresh account, the default car and an empty garage, and earns the rest with quests and playing.
Overdrive is its own small world with its own progression, run for the people who want to keep racing
Current state#
We couldn't make it playable as of now. The launcher, the account system and the servers work. You can sign in, install, reach the lobby, queue for a race and load into a track. What is being finished right now is the car itself, which still does not respond to any input
We scheduled the release on the 8th December 2026
- Vaelora Velocity Season 0 Kick Off, Standalone game made with Unreal Engine
- Rocket Racing Reborn is announced. Meridian, the account system and servers are built and tested while you read this
- Rocket Racing reaches its sunset on the official servers
The projects around it#
- Login only roadmap and community hub. Sign in with Google, Discord or GitHub to vote on what gets built next, post suggestions and follow progress on everything below
- A new racing game built from scratch in the spirit of Rocket Racing, by the same team
- A fan made information site that preserves everything known about Rocket Racing: tracks, cars, seasons and history
- The free launcher that installs the game and runs it against our servers
FAQ#
- Yes. There is nothing to buy and nothing to unlock with money
- No. The project never signs in to Epic and never reads or writes your Epic account
- No. Meridian downloads the preserved build itself and keeps it in its own library
- Not from Rocket League. Everyone starts from zero here, by design, and then you can earn them through quests and playing
- Meridian changes two things while it runs, a certificate for your user and the game's server redirect, and deletes both when it closes. Your game install is never modified
- Not yet. Single player is being finished first, racing against other people comes after we are satisfied enough with the progress and if we get funded for servers.
- Windows x32/x64 only
- Overdrive is a non commercial preservation project by volunteers. It runs separately from Epic's services (EOS) and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Epic Games or Psyonix
- When the car drives. We scheduled the release on 8th December, and the roadmap and/or Discord is where you will see it first
